| Well, where to begin.. it's been a while since I've written on this
thing. I normally go on to read what other people have posted.
I'll begin with concrete canoe since it occupies the majority of my
time. Full scale construction is going to begin next week. We are
going to be constructing the canoe using a female mold, and in
replacement of styrofoam, we're going to use wood strips. FYI: the last
time a team in Davis who has attempted this was about 10 years ago. Am
I nervous? You bet. But am I confident? Absolutely. There are many
people who I've met this year that are really dedicated to this
project, and are eager to begin swinging the hammer.
I've grown a lot heading this project. There are a lot of things I've learned, but this one sticks out:
I've learned that I don't need to have all the answers to lead a team,
but know how to find it and surround myself with people who can provide
it. Awknowledge those who do, and give back to them for their support.
Quick things that have happend outside of school/canoe
- I took the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Exam. It's an 8 hour
test that tests me on 3 years of college, passing it puts me a step
closer to becoming a licensed Engineer
.
- I had an interview with Kiewit Pacific Co. last week, and he
recommended for the summer internship! I hope I get it
! They
are an Engineering/Construction company that is currently working on
this

I'm ogranizing a site tour of the Bay Bridge this year. If all goes
well, I just might get to walk on that before it's built . Back in
Freshman year when I saw a model of that brdge in the Engineering
building, I told myself I want to walk on that bridge before it's
built. Here is my chance .
After interviewing with Kiewit, I'm eager to apply for other companies now. The companies I will try next are (in no order):
- Bechtel
- Miyamoto Int'l
- Granite Construction Inc.
- HDR
That's it for now, back to hw. Take care everyone.

| THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO HAS WISHED ME A HAPPY BDAY AND/OR SPENT TIME WITH ME. It has been completely incredible.
To describe all the fun I've had from Wednesday to Monday would fill
this page up entirely... and not to mention there are more events
yet to come is just amazing. This has truly been an incredible week. I
can't recall having this much fun in so many consecutive days. If I
have to guess.. it'd be back when I was in
STEP. This is an idea of what I've done so far:
Wednesday at Midnight: Sudwerk's with Bryce and Laine
Thursday Afternoon: Mario Tennis with Marc, food with Jamie and Jen
Thursday night: Dinner with my 2 cousins
Thursday at Midnight: TGIF with Karen, Alden, and running into cmont ppl I never knew
Friday Afternoon: Raging Waters with my 7 yr old cousin who's the
sweetest girl in the world. She asked me yesterday "Kuya, I want to
take you out for your birthday. Can we go to Raging Waters?" Oh, did I mention I got in for FREE (thank you Alden for the hookup)
Friday Night: Clubbing at Loft 11, I got in for FREE as well
Saturday Afternoon: Beach at Santa Rosa
Saturday Night: House Party at Angela's
Sunday night: Dinner with mom
Monday Night: Celebrating Sheryl's 21st birthday with her roomates in Davis
Events to come:
Dinner
with 3 of my Davis friends who insisted that they'd treat me out since
they couldn't spend time with me on my birthday. Talk about love ...
A Concrete Canoe dinner/clubbing night. Marc and Alison, since you're
reading this, you better come! More details on where and when will be
posted.
Pics will be posted once I can get my camera out of my uncle's house in east Sac!
Ok, it's 4am. I'm off. Thank you everybody, you've all been awesome .
